MONROE, La. (5/11/19)–Recent soggy weather couldn’t put a damper on this year’s Dragon Boat Festival.
The 2019 races was held on Bayou Desaird, hosted by the Children’s Coalition of Northeast Louisiana.
26 teams raced for the fastest time — with over 600 participants, and for the first time, organizers say students from the Louisiana Center for the Blind got to join in on the fun.
“So the Dragon Boat races are a great chance for businesses and schools to come together as a team, and in this case, they’re doing it for the kids in our community, all funds are benefitting the Children’s Coalition of Northeast Louisana,” said Lynn Clark, executive director of the organization.
There was plenty of dancing, food and drinks for attendees to grab in addition to the races and it was all for a great cause.
