2016 NELA Race for the Cure

Becky Tripp, Affiliate Coordinator for Susan G. Komen, joined us today on Louisiana Living to talk about the upcoming Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 2016.

This years event is being held at Forsythe Park in Monroe on September 17.

The One Mile Fun Run is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Registration for the NELA Race is available online at www.KomenNorthLouisiana.org.

After May 20th online registration fees are $30 for timed competitive runners, $25 for adults noncompetitive, $25 for timed survivors, $20 for noncompetitive survivors, $20 for teens 13-17, $10 for kids 2-12 years, $10 for babies 0-24 months, who will receive a special baby gift, and $10 for dogs, who receive a special “Pooches in Pink” gift. 

Registrants can also “Sleep in for the Cure,” where participants pay $30 in Race fees but plan to “sleep in” instead of attend Race and receive a sleep in gift along with their Race shirt. 

Another new item for this year is the Remembrance Wall where you can have a photo and name of a survivor or loved one lost to breast cancer that will be displayed on Race day.

KoMen Jambalaya Cook-Off 

Susan G. Komen of North Louisiana is also having their first KoMen Cook-Off at Forsythe Park on Race Day this year!

You can purchase a spot as a competing team for $50 or just purchase a wristband to taste their hard work for $5!

Cooking begins by 7:30 a.m.

Ready to taste by 10 a.m.

Samples for Judges should be ready by 11 a.m.

Winners announced at award ceremony at 1:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
