MONTICELLO — Two women have been charged with theft following a legislative audit of the finances of the Drew County Historical Museum.

According to KARK Content Partner Southeast Arkansas Times, Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen on Friday charged Elizabeth P. Thurman and Terri L. Wolfe with theft.

The charges follow a lengthy state police investigation and state audit of financial records.

Auditors report $182,446 in undocumented or questionable disbursements from the museum from January 1, 2011, through September 8, 2015.

Terri Wolfe, former treasurer of the Drew County Historical Museum Commission, and Elizabeth P. Thurman, also a former commissioner, resigned on September 8, 2015.

After the case has been assigned to a judge, a first appearance hearing will be set for Wolfe and Thurman.
