Two people were shot early Sunday morning following a home invasion in the 200-block of Harn Street in Monroe.
According to Monroe Police, officers responded to the incident shortly after 4:00 Sunday morning.
Officers say two suspects entered the home through the front door and shot at a 23 year-old who was standing in the hallway, and then later confronted a sleeping 16 year-old with a .22 rifle and a shotgun.
Detective Chris Bates with Monroe Police says the 23 year-old tried to shield the teenager while they were being shot at.
The teen was hit by a bullet in the leg, and the 23 year-old was grazed by a bullet in the shoulder.
Both suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. Police do not believe anything was stolen from the home at this time.
The victims are said to have non-life threatening injuries, and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
There’s no information yet on any potential suspects or descriptions of the intruders.
