“When I started the company almost twenty years ago, we started off with one television station serving one marketplace,” Nexstar CEO and President Perry Sook said. “We have grown to a company with over a hundred television stations serving over sixty markets.”
Sook said he wants to celebrate that growth and the company’s 20th anniversary on June 17 by giving back to the communities that have helped build this company.
Nexstar stations across the country will give back to local causes on June 17 and for every hour of volunteer service, the company will donate to that organization. For example, if a market contributes a total of 800 services hours to an organization, Nexstar will donate $800 to that charity.
“It differs from area to area,” General Manager of KTVE/KARD Randy Stone said. “We have a station that is building a hiking trail for the Boy Scouts. Our particular donation would be for the food bank.”
As part of our ‘Stuff The Truck’ food drive, we are collecting food to be donated to the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. The food donations will help feed those in need in the 12 parishes in Northeast Louisiana.
Employees will be volunteering at the food bank doing everything from organizing to packing boxes.
For organizations like this food bank, every donation counts.
“Whether it’s donating food, whether it’s donating funds or whether it’s donating your time and coming to volunteer, everybody can kind of take part in helping out our neighbors,” said Communications Officer for FBNL Sarah Hoffman.
If you want to contribute, please bring donations to the interstate Dodge in West Monroe where a large bin is set inside of the dealership.
The deadline for donations is June 17 at 3 p.m.
