UPDATE: Mangham man arrested for Second Degree Murder in connection to early morning shooting death at Circle K gas station


UPDATE: 11:24 AM (MONROE, La.) — A Mangham man has been arrested in connection to the early morning shooting at the Circle K gas station on Louisville Avenue.

According to Monroe Police, officers were called to the Circle K gas station on Louisville Avenue in reference to a shooting that happened just before 1 AM Wednesday morning.

When officers arrived, they found a black Ford F-250 pickup truck in the parking lot with two males inside the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Joseph Morris, suffered a single gunshot wound to the head which killed him.

22-year-old Samuel Parker was found in the front passenger seat sitting on a Taurus 9mm pistol.

Witnesses say that Parker was holding the pistol at the time that Morris was shot.

Parker was placed under arrest and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on charges on Second Degree Murder.

Parker’s bond has not been set at this time.

ORIGINAL: MONROE, La. – (7/10/19) There was a heavy police presence at the Shell/Circle-K on Louisville Avenue in Monroe this morning.

We had a crew on scene around 1:30.

There were multiple Monroe Police cruisers and an ambulance.

Police have put crime scene tape up around the scene of the Circle K on N. 3rd Street.

Authorities say they are unable to release a statement at this time.
