Accused drug dealers text wrong number, end up in jail

Arkansas News

LONOKE, Ark. (KARK) – (4/19/19) A Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Facebook post on Thursday night explained what happened.

The message which asked if he still needed to buy narcotics, was received by an off-duty Lonoke Police Department who then got in touch with the LCSO.

“Being a rainy day and all, deputies decided ‘Why not? Let’s see where this goes,’” the post continued.

Deputies say one of the suspects, later identified as Troy Parker, stated that he would meet at the In and Out gas station on Military Road to sell narcotics. After setting up a perimeter, deputies spotted the suspect vehicle turning into the gas station.

As deputies got out of their marked and unmarked vehicles, the driver, later identified as Tony Williams, put the vehicle in reverse and tried to drive away. Due to wet pavement, he only spun his tires.

As deputies moved up to the vehicle and told the occupants to put their hands up, Williams opened his door and tried to run away, the LCSO said.

He was caught by two officers about 2 feet from the driver’s door and arrested after a brief struggle.

The deputies then spotted a black box on the driver’s floorboard that was tipped open.

Inside the box, they reported finding a baggie containing about 13.5 grams of suspected cocaine, 4 pills of suspected ecstasy, 20 hydrocodone pills, about 12 grams of suspected marijuana, 21 muscle relaxant pills, and numerous scales and baggies for packaging.

After Parker was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody, the deputies searched the vehicle and reported finding more drug paraphernalia, another gram of suspected cocaine, about 2.95 grams of suspected marijuana in the front cup holders, and 4.8 ounces of suspected marijuana in the backseat.

Williams and Parker were both taken to the Lonoke County Detention Center and booked on these charges: Delivery of Methamphetamine or Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine or Cocaine, Criminal Use of a Communication Device, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance With Purpose to Deliver x3, and one count of resisting arrest.
