UPDATE: Monroe Police investigating double shooting at Parkview Apartments

Monroe PD released an update this afternoon advising that two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the shooting at Parkview Apartments

During the investigation, the officers located Tevin Melton and another victim who was not identified both suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures on Melton and transported the victim to Oschner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center, but he later passed away as a result of his injuries. The other victim’s wounds were said to be non-life threatening.

Also as part of the investigation on-scene, officers located two juvenile suspects near the scene who were not identified. After receiving information connecting the two juveniles to the shooting, they were both arrested and booked in Green Oaks Detention Center on charges of Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile.

The crime is said to be gang-related.

MONROE, La, (KTVE/KARD) — The Monroe Police Department have announced they are currently investigating a double shooting that took place at Parkview Apartments around 7:30pm on Saturday, May 1st on the 1100 block of Richwood Rd. #2.

Though, limited information is currently available, they did confirm that the shooting left one person dead and another wounded. Detectives are currently on-scene and working the case, with more details to come.
