Coronavirus in Louisiana: State reports 2,179 new cases, 24 new deaths on Friday

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Department of Health reported 2,179 new cases and 24 new deaths, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 88,590 and the total number of deaths to 3,399 on Friday, July 17.

In Northeast Louisiana, there were 198 new cases and 1 new death reported. Ouachita Parish is still reporting the most cases and deaths in our area with 3,475 cases and 95 deaths, an increase of 87 cases and 1 death since Thursday’s update. Also on Friday Jackson Parish reported 1 new death.

  • Ouachita Parish – 3,475 cases, 95 deaths (87 new cases)
  • Franklin Parish – 610 cases, 14 deaths (15 new cases)
  • Union Parish – 495 cases, 30 deaths (4 new cases)
  • East Carroll Parish – 482 cases, 1 death (6 new cases)
  • Lincoln Parish – 482 cases, 19 deaths (9 new cases)
  • Madison Parish – 468 cases, 6 deaths (14 new cases)
  • Richland Parish – 348 cases, 5 deaths (16 new cases)
  • Morehouse Parish – 319 cases, 10 deaths (11 new cases)
  • Winn Parish – 311 cases, 5 deaths (3 new cases)
  • Jackson Parish – 264 cases, 18 deaths (12 new cases, 1 new death)
  • Catahoula Parish – 221 cases, 3 deaths (1 new cases)
  • West Carroll Parish – 191 cases, 5 deaths (9 new cases)
  • Concordia Parish – 169 cases, 7 deaths (2 new cases)
  • La Salle Parish – 140 cases, 1 death (5 new cases)
  • Caldwell Parish – 133 cases, 1 death (4 new cases)
  • Tensas Parish – 38 cases, 0 deaths (no change)
