KTVE NBC 10/KARD FOX 14 News Director Andy Pederson has been in broadcasting since he was in high school. Andy started his career as a DJ at a small AM station in Chester, Virginia running the audio board to run local commercials during Virginia Tech football and basketball games. Those shifts behind the mic solidified his love of serving the local community through broadcasting.
After high school, Andy went to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. While working on the college paper, The Champion, Andy’s first off-campus assignment was big: covering President George H.W. Bush after a debate in Richmond, VA. In 1996, Andy graduated with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism.
Andy started his television career working at WSET-TV in Lynchburg, VA. While there, he went from Tape Editor to Photojournalist to Reporter in the station’s Roanoke Bureau. While Andy learned a lot as a Reporter, he felt he thrived as a Photojournalist, and moved back to Richmond to work at WRIC-TV, which is now a sister station through our owner Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
Andy spent the bulk of his career at WTVR-TV, the CBS station in Richmond, VA. In his 17 years at the now #1 news station in Richmond, he worked his way up through management, spending time as Chief Photographer and News Operations Manager.
In March of 2017, he and his family moved to Northeast Louisiana where Andy became the News Director of KTVE NBC 10/KARD FOX 14. He loves his new home here in the Arklamiss, where he says he has the best neighbors ever.
At KTVE NBC 10/KARD FOX 14, we aim to make sure local stories are covered above everything else. If you have a story idea or a concern about how the station covers the news, please follow Andy Pederson on Facebook here: or follow him on Twitter here or email him at
