The LA Horseshoe Pitchers Association will host the State Horseshoe Singles Tournament on Saturday September 29 and Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Chenault Park, Shelter 4 starting at 8:00 a.m. both days. Pitchers from all over the state will travel to Monroe to pitch for the state title!

The third annual River Rat Paddle Challenge on the historic Ouachita River will be held on September 29, 2018. Proceeds will benefit Horse Assisted Therapy Services of North Louisiana. The race will be about 6 and a half miles long and will include divisions for paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks (multiple lengths/styles) for men, women, and children. The River Rat Paddle Challenge will start at the boat ramp on Bayou D’Arbonne near the White’s Ferry Road Bridge and end on the Ouachita River at Trapp’s Restaurant in West Monroe for food, fun, and awards.

The Third Annual Northeast Louisiana Pokemon Convention (NELA PokeCon) is expanding their offerings this year to include areas of gaming interest beyond Pokemon. They will have a special Kids’ Zone set up for crafts and activities, as well as booths from regional vendors selling cards and accessories. Cadillac King plays classic rock, oldies and great dance music. Jambalaya, cheese trays, 4 types of boudin, wine bellini’s and drinks will be offered for purchase. Twin City Ballet Company’s 49th season is off to an exciting start! Join them September 29th at Brown Theatre for their season opener.
