MONROE/WEST MONROE, La. - (1/29/19) Krewe of Janus King and Queen Sammy Tolar and Blanche Betz 2019 joined us on Louisiana Living to discuss the new parade route and upcoming events for mardi gras in the twin cities.

(1/23/19) The Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade is set to roll through the twin cities on February 16, 2019, but this year, it'll take a new route.

The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. and will still begin at 1118 Natchitoches Street and end on Louisville Avenue at Oliver Road, but it will change up a bit in downtown Monroe.

The parade will travel from Natchitoches Street to Trenton Street where it will cross over the Louisville bridge, then it will head down Walnut street then onto Washington then onto N. 2nd street and onto Louisville Avenue.

This parade has been around since 1984, when crowds were estimated at 35,000.

The Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras parade is one of the biggest events in the area and brings in around 175,000 people each year and has been recognized as one of the top 20 tourism events in the south for several years!

This is the 36th year that the Krewe of Janus parade has rolled. The theme this year is “Under the Big Top".
