WEST MONROE, La. — (4/26/19) MedCamps of Louisiana will host its inaugural Camp Hot Shots, for children ages 8-16 who are living with Juvenile Diabetes, during the week of June 23, 2019- June 28, 2019. Camp Hot Shots is hosted by MedCamps of Louisiana and is in partner with the Diabetes Care Center. This camp is funded by The Holtz Family Foundation. Medical education will be held throughout the week by Diabetes Care Center as well as medical staff.
MedCamps of Louisiana is a local non-profit organization that provides residential camping experiences free of charge to children living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. While at camp children facing the challenges of a variety of physical and cognitive disabilities as well as medical fragilities are engaged and challenged by specially designed activities and traditional summer camping experiences. The focus is on what campers can do, and all campers are encouraged and supported to reach their full potential. MedCamps programs are medically supervised to ensure that each camper receives the care that they need while at camp. In this safe environment, surrounded by other children with similar challenges, these special campers discover they are not alone and gain a genuine sense of belonging, accomplishment and self-worth.
MedCamps is so excited to add Camp Hot Shots to our 2019 schedule of camps. This is a one week, FREE OF CHARGE, camping experience. Please join us for our inaugural camp and enjoy activities that range from karaoke, archery, canoeing, fishing, zip-lining, and much more!
