F-86 Sabre fighter jet to join Chennault Museum aircraft collection

(5/14/2018) The Chennault Aviation and Military Museum will be adding to its collection of historic aircraft on Tuesday, May 15th.

An F-86 Sabre fighter jet is being transported from Jackson, Mississippi.

The jet is on certified loan from the National Museum of the United States Air Force.

The aircraft is set to arrive at the museum around 3:00 P.M.

As the Air Force’s first swept-wing jet fighter plane, the first F-86 aircraft made its initial flight in 1947.

The warbird will be restored on the grounds of the Chennault Museum.

The restoration projects are coordinated by a crew of volunteers who are dedicated to restoring the museum’s collection to a condition that showcases their historic significance.
