ArkLaMiss Ice Threat February 10th-12th

UPDATE: As of Monday morning, the National Weather Service has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for parts of northeast Louisiana. Other areas in south Arkansas have been changed to a Winter Weather Advisory.

The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6pm Monday to 6pm Tuesday for locations with the worst expected impacts: a significant accumulation of ice is expected to create icing on bridges, overpasses, roadways, and trees which could lead to hazardous traveling conditions and some power outages.

Other counties in south Arkansas and north Louisiana have been changed to a Winter Weather Advisory.

WEST MONROE, La. -- A winter storm targets parts of the ArkLaMiss early this week. Freezing rain could lead to icing on bridges, overpasses, & roadways Monday night into Tuesday making for dangerous slippery conditions for travelers.  Any heavy icing on trees & power lines could lead to power outages.

A preliminary ice forecast, made Sunday evening (see image), shows the extent of the ice threat. The greatest ice threat exists for locations near and north of I-20, roughly from Monroe, LA to about Jackson, MS.

As of Sunday evening, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for parts of south Arkansas & north Louisiana (see image). These weather alerts will likely be updated as the event draws nearer. Check back with us for the latest.
