Weather Update - Sunday June 18th

WEST MONROE, La - FATHER'S DAY FORECAST:

Scattered showers are possible for the rest of the day today with a marginal risk for severe isolated thunderstorms, gusty winds, and the potential of hail but this is on the low spectrum of severe weather. For those of us that do not see rain, we will see some cloud coverage keeping temperatures at bay in the upper 80's. That is not stopping it from feeling about 10° warmer though with heat indices in the upper 90's. Overnight lows will dip into the mid 70's tonight.

TOMORROW:

Temperatures will only warm up to the upper 80's tomorrow as morning rain chances will cool us down than what it would normally feel. Rain should clear out by the afternoon and evening hours, but we will still see some cloud coverage.

REST OF THE WEEK:

The first day of summer starts Tuesday, but it will not feel like summer until the end of the week. Temperatures will stay in the low 90's by the mid part of the week and clouds will clear out but it will feel like summer by the weekend with temperatures in the upper 90's.

TROPICS:

We are still keeping our eye on an area of a broad low pressure system east of the Yucatan Peninsula. The National Hurricane Center is giving it a 70% chance of development over the next 48 hours, but it will struggle to continue forming and stay together. If it survives and makes its way to the Gulf of Mexico, it could bring heavy rain, but this is still uncertain as models are disagreeing as to track and intensity of the storm.
