Weather Forecast- Friday, April 13th

Severe storms likely across the ArkLaMiss tonight

WEST MONROE, La. - Good Friday morning! It's a warm and humid start outside this morning with temperatures in the upper 60's. Cloud cover and humidity have returned and so have the breezy southerly winds. We are going to be seeing overcast conditions last through the course of the morning and afternoon with highs around 80 ahead of a cold front which will bring the potential for some severe storms in the forecast later on this evening.

The latest outlook from NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center shows an expanded area of *enhanced* risk for severe weather late this evening and overnight, and the area between Shreveport to Little Rock along the I-30 corridor has just been upgraded to a *moderate* risk.

It includes almost all of the KTVE/KARD viewing area. An approaching cold front, along with lots of moisture and instability should give storms no problem developing later on tonight. Ahead of the main squall line, some discrete cells will likely be popping up this evening which could become severe. Widespread showers and storms will move into the western part of our area later this evening and storms will continue to work east through the overnight hours, capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes- some could become strong. There is also a risk for localized flash flooding, with 2"-4" of rainfall expected. Flash Flood Watches are in effect for the eastern 1/3rd of our coverage area. The bulk of the rainfall and severe threat should be clearing out of the riverside parishes early tomorrow morning, shortly before sunrise.

Be sure you have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings tonight, whether you'll be out or just hanging out at home!

The forecast for tomorrow is looking gloomy with morning rain possible, gradually beginning to clear out by the late afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper 60's.

The good news- by Sunday we will see plenty of sunshine return to the forecast along with cool temperatures, highs near 62°.
