Hundreds line up for the "Journey to Bethlehem" drama (Nick Lawton, KTVE/KARD)
MONROE -- Folks in Pecanland Mall in Monroe got to take a step back in time this weekend as a local church put on a free Christmas drama.
Through actors, authentic foods and tools used back in first-century Middle East, West Monroe's Cedar Crest Baptist Church put on a "Journey to Bethlehem."
The walk-through experience tells the Christian story of the birth of Jesus Christ.
One hundred people in costume and even sheep and donkeys were brought in.
This is the 32nd year the church has put on this event for the people.
"The community looks forward to this. People who don't even go to our church help us with their fish and their sheep, donkeys, you just wouldn't believe but it is awesome, the response from the community," said "Journey to Bethlehem" Coordinator, Barbara Gates.
Hundreds lined up to see the experience for themselves.
Gates said even churches in Mississippi were coming in on buses to see the experience.
