(KARK) MORRILTON, AR -- A snake alert in central Arkansas after Morrilton police say someone set three pythons free in their city.

At least one has been killed by Robbie Monk, whose daughter spotted the snake on their front lawn.

Two more are still out there tonight.

The problem is happening in the Sardis Road area.

Monk says he knew he had to take action once seeing the snake.

"He was right there, and I stood right here and just took it like the and hit him in the head," Robbie said.

"Speaking with the Game and Fish, this is not an animal native to North America, and it's not something reproducing out into the wild," said Chief Sonny Stover with Morrilton police.

Police say they don't know who is responsible but are working to find the two remaining snakes.
