Police say they located the inmate over the weekend.

UPDATE Tuesday 5:45pm -- On Saturday the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office located, arrested and returned Tipton to the West Monroe Correctional Center. 

Tipton was later transferred to the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center where he was booked for Simple Escape.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m. --
West Monroe Police have issued a release stating at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, 31-year-old trustee Melvin Tipton, a white male, walked away from his work detail at the West Monroe Convention Center.

Tipton was last seen wearing a black and white striped uniform.

WEST MONROE -- West Monroe police officers are actively searching for a trustee who walked off the job this afternoon.
Police say the inmate is a white male in his thirties with tattoos.

They say he was last seen working near the West Monroe Convention Center and City Hall. He was wearing a black and white jumpsuit.
Police say there is an ongoing searching to find the trustee.
