Union Parish Library: "A River Runs Through Us" Month

Union Parish is celebrating "A River Runs Through Us" this month to celebrate the significance of the Ouachita River, which traces the Eastern boundaries of the parish.
Farmerville -- Union Parish is celebrating "A River Runs Through Us" this month to celebrate the significance of the Ouachita River, which traces the Eastern boundaries of the parish.

Many of the stories, culture, and traditions of river life and trade will be featured through the month through arts, history, and literature programs. This effort is a collaboration of the Union Parish Library, Union Parish Arts Council, Union Parish Tourism Commission, and the Lake D'Arbonne State Park.

Events to be discussed include:

October 16; 12:00 "Riverboat John, Storyteller/Musician"; Program Outdoors at the Union Parish Library
October 17; 6:00 "History of Ouachita River" The Ouachita Foundation at the Union Parish Library
October 18; 9:00-3:00 "Historical Re-enactment of 1802 Hunter/Dunbar Expedition"; Tours/Exhibit at the Lake D'Arbonne State Park.
October 19; 9:00-3:00 "Historical Re-enactment of 1802 Hunter/Dunbar Expedition"; Tours/Exhibit at the Lake D'Arbonne State Park.
October 24; 6:00 "The Wit, Wisdom, and Woe: The Many Faces of Mark Twain"; Georgiann Potts at the Union Parish Library
