Monroe -- (ULM Media Services) The University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Education and Human Development will host its third annual Fall Gala from 5-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at the home of John and Dorothy Schween.

Tickets are $40 for the general public and $30 for ULM students. Guests must be 21 and older to attend, and attire is dressy casual.

“This fundraising event is committed to bringing unity to the ULM family, college supporters and community leaders. The Fall Gala is one of the highlights of our academic year, giving us an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni, students and faculty,” said Dr. Sandi Lemoine, dean of the College of Education and Human Development at ULM.

Guests will enjoy an evening of fun and food, with entertainment provided by Kirby Rambin and Southern Grace.

This year’s gala will feature door prices and a silent action with various items, including a one-year membership at the Monroe Athletic Club, gift cards from Restaurant Cotton and Enoch’s, gift baskets from Luna Blue Yoga Center and Panache Boutique and paintings and prints from artists Melanie Douthit, Julie Pearson, Jeremy Thornhill and Emily Caldwell.

Dr. Dorothy Schween, ULM curriculum, instruction and leadership department head, and host of the event said, “For the past two years, this event has been an opportunity for our community and university to enjoy an evening of wonderful entertainment, food, wine, and friendships. We are looking forward to another special evening to celebrate these partnerships that are so vital to our educational success.”

During the gala, guests will enjoy a wide variety of hors d’oeuvres, artisanal beer and wine donated by local businesses.

“This party would not be possible without the generous contributions from our sponsors,” said Arely Castillo, facilities manager and coordinator of grants and development for CEHD. “Some of the local donors include Magic Grill, Fiesta Nutrition Center, Waterfront Grill, Thurman’s Food Factory, Not Just Pie and Landry Vineyards among many others.”

The event was founded by Dr. Ava Pugh, who said it is a crucial part of fundraising efforts for CEHD as proceeds are used for faculty initiatives that directly benefit students and the college.

The Fall Gala is accepting sponsorships and donations. For more information, to purchase tickets, and for directions, contact Dr. Ava Pugh at apugh@ulm.edu, or Arely Castillo at castillo@ulm.edu.
