Two Arrested for Trying to Break Into a Pharmacy

Police say Wednesday night at 11:00 PM, Monroe Police responded to an alarm at Aron’s Pharmacy located in the 1200 block of N 18th Street.
Police found an exterior door damaged along with damage to power and phone lines.

A witness at the scene provided a description of a suspect vehicle to officers who began a search of the area.

One hour later, Monroe Police responded to a theft of a cell phone complaint at a restaurant on N 18th Street.

During this investigation, Monroe Police located the suspect vehicle from the pharmacy investigation.

Officers were able to develop information at the scene that recovered the stolen cell phone and led them to suspects at a local apartment.

18-year-old Aaron Nelson of West Monroe and a 16-year-old from Monroe were arrested for one count of Burglary of a Pharmacy, Theft, and Damage to Property.

Police say the two were trying to break into the pharmacy to steal pain medication.

Nelson was booked into OCC and the teen was taken to Green Oaks Detention Center.

Monroe Police are continuing their investigation to determine if this burglary is connected to other Pharmacy burglaries that have occurred in the last few weeks.
