HOUMA, La. (WDSU) — A fire in a mobile home has killed three children and left their father and mother in the hospital.

The state Fire Marshal's Office says that a 13-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy died in the fire at the Whispering Oaks Trailer Park.

The fire started around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The children's father rescued one child, who survived, but was unable to get the other three.

The father and mother were taken to a burn unit in Baton Rouge with burn injuries.

Five other children and two adults were also in the home.  They suffered minor smoke inhalation.
