WEST MONROE (WMPD) -- The West Monroe Police Department will be conducting a Sobriety and Occupant Protection checkpoint in the next week.
The checkpoint will take place on Friday, January 10, from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the city limits of West Monroe.
Other agencies may be participating in this checkpoint as well as the Ouachita Parish Division of Homeland Security, who will provide a trailer for the event.
Police say the purpose of this checkpoint is to deter drivers from drunk driving and raise awareness for occupant safety.
This checkpoint is funded through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
