'Scouting for Food' is This Week, Boy Scouts Collecting Canned Foods

If you found a brown paper bag on your front porch Saturday morning, there's a good reason behind it.

WEST MONROE -- If you found a brown paper bag on your front porch Saturday morning, there's a good reason behind it!

It's the annual Scouting For Food drive. Boy Scout troops across the country are dropping off bags at the doors of various homes throughout the community. Troops across Northeast Louisiana were busy dropping off the bags on doorsteps.

People are encouraged to put canned goods in the bag. Then, the Boy Scouts will come back a week later, next Saturday November 9th, to pick up the donations.

"We go out, we help others, and its good to give and help out others less fortunate. So, they're learning that most people out here are just good giving people," said Matt Smith, Cub Master for Pack 37 at Kiroli Elementary.

Boy scout leaders say any donation is welcomed.
