New Orleans -- New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley has been waived by the team, according to the team's transaction wire.

Cornerback Chris Carr was also waived.

No additional moves were announced by the Saints Tuesday, according to reports.

Earlier this season head coach Sean Payton brought in three kickers to challenge Hartley.

Hartley was 22 of 30 in the 2013 regular season.

During the 2009 season, Hartley kicked the Saints into Super Bowl XLIV making a 40-yard field goal in overtime against the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game.

Hartley kicked four field goals in the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts bringing the team its first Super Bowl win.

Saints punter Thomas Morestead commented via Twitter on his now former teammate being waived, saying, "Wishing @Ghartley5 all the best in his future. His foot helped us win a Super Bowl. #WhoDat"

The Saints will turn their attention to the Carolina Panthers (10-4) next Sunday in Charlotte in a contest that will likely decide the NFC South championship.
