The City of Monroe and Community Trust Bank will present the Downtown RiverMarket on Saturday, November 16th . If you’ve missed the weeks before, some excellent live entertainment, delicious food and unique vendors await you on the riverwalk overlooking the Ouachita River.
Due to inclement weather last Saturday, November 9, 2013, the Veteran’s Day Duck Derby Race will be held this Saturday at noon on the Ouachita River.
A Gumbo Contest will be held between three vendors at the RiverMarket this weekend. The contest will include Trio's, Kevin Green, and Stu’s Mobile Bistro. Trios will serve up two gumbos as a tantalizing tandem for your taste buds. Their Chicken and Sausage Gumbo is a hearty helping of chunk white meat chicken and savory sausage smothered in a house recipe roux. Lump meat and garden fresh ingredients make up their secret second recipe of Seafood Gumbo. Stu's Mobile Bistro will break out his best blonde roux, showcasing a delicious Chicken and Sausage Gumbo with gobs of whole meat chicken and cajun sausage. For his darker side, Stu will cook up a deeper brown concoction of farm raised crawfish, peeled gulf shrimp and fresh fish in his very original Seafood Gumbo. Kevin Greene's “six hour savory sensation” blends his twist of pit-smoked chicken, hand- chopped s ausage, and fresh okra to create a mastered recipe of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo.

Maurice Johnson is a high school band director and has served on several committees in formatting policies and procedures related to music education. Before retirement from Grambling State University, he served as Director of Marching Bands, Wind Ensemble, Experimental Jazz Ensemble and Applied Woodwind instructor. He has performed with and arranged music for various renowned music including The Temptations and Percy Mayfield. Maurice’s music will give you an escape of exhilarating sensations with satirical sounds that make you relax or move to the smooth vivacious rhythms.
Ms. Jami-Lynn Crosby from B Fit Studio will offer a “Piloxing” class at the RiverMarket. This incredible program uniquely mixes Pilates and boxing into a fat-blasting and muscle toning workout guaranteed to whip you into shape. At the core of PILOXING is the principle that being feminine is powerful and it aims for women to attain a Sleek, Sexy and Powerful self-image. PILOXING blends the power, speed and agility of boxing with the beautiful sculpting and flexibility of Pilates, along with fun, easy to learn dance moves. Jami-Lynn has been a group fitness instructor for 6 years and has personal trained 2 of those years. She wanted to turn her passion of fitness, health, and people into a career, so she opened B Fit. Jami-Lynn wants her studio to be a place where beginners can come and gain confidence and the advanced can be pushed to greater levels.

Rachel Patrick & Cheryl Perkins from 2 Country Girls Designs. These ladies started out making jewelry for a friend for Christmas and when their friends liked the jewelry so much they decided to start selling it. They sell all sorts of fabulous handmade jewelry, gifts and décor.

November 23rd – Christmas on the River/ Shop Small Shop Unique: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Downtown Monroe! The day will be filled with music by Blesses Assurance, Gary Brown, and more Family Christmas Entertainment. The Animal Rescue League will also be offering a treat and ornament workshop.
November 30th –Christmas on the River: Christmas music will fill the air at the RiverMarket this weekend. Performers include The Cross (with Family Christmas Entertainment), Joanna Caloun, and Lainey Wilson. Dress warm and bring the whole family this weekend!!!

On your mark, get set, Float… The Duck Commander Derby will start at 3:30 p.m. when up to 30,000 rubber ducks will be released near the Endom Bridge. They will float freely to the end of the RiverMarket area, where the winners will be announced. Ducks can be “adopted” at all Community Trust Bank locations in Louisiana and at the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana’s office. Duck Adoption packages include the following: Duck $5, The Quacker $25 for 6 ducks, and The Big Quacker $400 for 100 ducks.
