CNN -- About three million people have enrolled in private insurance plans through Obamacare.
That's according to a statement released on Friday by the federal government.
The figure indicates a pickup in enrollment ahead of the March 31st deadline to obtain insurance or pay a fine.
About 2.1 million people had obtained private insurance through December 31st, the first three months of open enrollment. That means about 900,000 people got private insurance in the first three weeks of January. The figures were released in a blog post by Marilyn Tavenner.
She's the administrator of the center for Medicare and Medicaid services and oversees the roll out of the Obamacare.
She wrote that they anticipate the numbers will continue to grow.
