Monroe Police and Fire Unions Endorse City Tax Renewals

Monroe Police Local 81 Union and Monroe Fire Fighters Association Local 629 Union have officially endorsed the three City of Monroe Tax Renewals on the November 16th Ballot.
Monroe -- Monroe Police Local 81 Union President Michael Calloway and Monroe Fire Fighters Association Local 629 Union President Perry Jeselink, speaking on behalf of their respective unions, have officially endorsed the three City of Monroe Tax Renewals on the November 16th Ballot.

“We want to encourage everyone to vote yes three times in support of the renewal of the three City of Monroe millages on Saturday, November 16. Specifically, for the fire and police departments, these millages help to provide and upgrade equipment such as our car fleet, new technology to help reduce response time and crime prevention, specialized equipment used for emergencies, accident response and fire rescue. In addition to urban search and rescue equipment that will benefit the entire northeast region of Louisiana.

We have recently purchased new police units, radios, upgraded our communications system, software system and continue to upgrade our fire stations. These funds are critical for our continued ability to complete a project for the installation of computer systems into patrol units. That will allow officers to receive real time information that will lead to quicker and more efficient service on the scene. This alone will help free officers up to respond to even more calls. These are not new taxes, and these funds are crucial for the public safety efforts of the City of Monroe.”
