MONROE -- October is National Disability Awareness Month, so Monroe is playing host to a job fair geared toward helping those with disablities.

The Monroe Civic Center hosted the Diversity Works job fair on Tuesday, which is spearheaded by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

The job fair is geared toward highlighting awareness for employers to hire those with disabilities.

Over a dozen employers set up booths at the fair,  which also gives job seekers an opportunity to network with area employers.

"With the economy today, everyone is looking for employment, so this definitely gives individuals looking for employment, especially those with disabilities, to find good employment," said Georgette Wallace with the Disability Employment Initiative of LWC.
