WEST MONROE -- Around 9 p.m. Friday, the West Monroe Street Crimes Unit conducted an investigation into the sale of narcotics at 426 Benson Street in West Monroe.
According to the arrest affidavit, West Monroe PD were given anonymous tips of a marijuana seller known as "Hamburg" in that area.
When police arrived at 426 Benson Street, the affidavit reads officers observed three black males sitting on the front porch of the house.
One of the males, identified as 27-year-old Richard Hamburg, told police he was "watching the house until his friend came home," according to the affidavit.
Hamburg consented to a search, where the affidavit reads police found two plastic bags of marijuana in his pants pocket along with $219 in cash and a pack of cigars.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hamburg was arrested and taken to WMCC, where a computer check showed he had been convicted three previous times for possession of marijuana.
Police reports also indicated the residence at 426 Benson St. was withing 2,000 feet of West Monroe High School.
Hamburg was later taken to the Ouachita Correctional Center, charged with Possession of Marijuana (4th Offense) with Intent to Distribute, a felony crime.
Hamburg was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) within 2,000 feet of a school zone.
