Louisiana Unemployment Rate Drops Again

Louisiana’s unemployment rate fell to 6.3 percent in November.
Baton Rouge -- Louisiana’s unemployment rate fell to 6.3 percent in November, the third straight monthly improvement, according to seasonally adjusted data released today by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The state jobless rate previously had held steady at 7.0 percent for three straight months before improving over the month to 6.8 in September, and 6.5 in October.

Louisiana’s private sector employers added 26,000 jobs in the 12 months leading up to November, BLS data shows.

“The improving unemployment rate reflects what employers have been telling us for months, that their need for trained, qualified employees is growing,” Louisiana Workforce Commission Executive Director Curt Eysink said. “The November numbers validate once again that Louisiana is on a great trajectory.”
