Louisiana Tech is one of only two public universities in Louisiana to achieve a Tier One “National Universities” ranking, coming in at a tie for No. 190 – the highest ranking Tech has received from U.S. News & World Report. Louisiana Tech was also the only university in the state to see its national ranking rise over last year, moving up nine spots from the 2013 list.

Joining Louisiana Tech at No. 190 were institutions such as the University of Houston, New Mexico State, Utah State and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In addition to its National Universities ranking, Louisiana Tech ranked among the Top 20 in the nation for graduating students with the least amount of debt. This was the fourth time in the past five years that Louisiana Tech has achieved this distinction.

Louisiana Tech also saw a rise in its national ranking in the Top Public Universities category, moving up seven spots over last year to No. 108 as well as a rise in its undergraduate engineering programs and undergraduate business programs national rankings.

“This Tier One ranking from U.S. News & World Report is a credit to the dedication and tireless efforts of our faculty and staff,” said Louisiana Tech President Les Guice. “The passion and commitment they have for serving our students and elevating our university is truly inspiring, and their value to Louisiana Tech is immeasurable. I’d like to congratulate them on this outstanding achievement and am delighted to see their efforts recognized on a national level.”

U.S. News & World Report assesses more than 1,500 four-year colleges and universities across the country and has classified a total of 281 institutions as “National Universities,” 173 of which are public.

In addition to its U.S. News & World Report ranking, Louisiana Tech was recently recognized by Newsweek and The Daily Beast as one of the 25 Most Affordable Colleges in the nation, for both in-state and out-of-state students, and by Affordable Colleges Online as the No. 1 institution in Louisiana for overall return on investment (ROI) to its graduates.
