MONROE -- One local nonprofit was trying to do its part Saturday to make sure kids are going back to school with enough supplies.
The New Light Economic Empowerment Commission, based at New Light Baptist Church in Monroe, hosted a back to school rally at the church on Saturday.
In addition to giving out free school supplies and uniforms to kids who turned out, the Monroe Police and Fire Department were also on-hand with a fun house and smoke alarm give-away.
