LA Wildlife and Fisheries Commission Welcomes New Member Dan Davis

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission welcomed newly appointed member Dan Davis at their monthly meeting May 2 in Baton Rouge. Governor Bobby Jindal appointed Davis in April to fill the vacancy left by commissioner Michael C. "Mike" Voisin who passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 2, following a heart attack he suffered on Jan. 25.

Davis, a life-long resident of Houma, works for Marlin Services LLC in business development. He is married to the former Trudy Boquet and they have three children and four grandchildren.
 
He currently serves as secretary of the Terrebonne Port Commission and secretary/treasurer of the Dularge Hunting Club, and has served previously as vice-chairman of the Louisiana Alligator Council for 20 years and chairman of the Louisiana Fur and Alligator Council.  He is a member of the Louisiana Trappers and Alligator Hunters Association, CCA of Louisiana, Ducks Unlimited, and the Terrebonne Sportsman League.
 
"With my involvement in our coastal parishes, I fully understand the needs of commercial and recreational user groups," said Davis. "Louisiana's natural resources must be protected and utilization of those resources managed to provide for future generations of all user groups."
 
Davis will serve as a representative of the commercial fishing and fur industries through December 2015.
