MONROE - - Louisiana Treasury Secretary John Kennedy visited the twin cities today to remind residents of the tax amnesty program. Kennedy was the guest speaker at the Monroe Rotary Club.
There's still time for delinquent tax payers to take advantage of the tax amnesty program, but Kennedy says the program should not be the norm.
"I think amnesty is inherently unfair, because you're awarding people who havn't obeyed the law and that's unfair to the ninety-nine percent of tax payers who have paid their taxes" says Kennedy.
The deadline for the tax amnesty program is November 22nd.
The state will also offer two additional, one-month amnesty periods in 2014 and 2015, but with less generous terms.
