Hundreds spend their Friday evening at Revolution Park in Ouachita Parish to support the Relay for Life.
The overnight event began at six Friday evening and supports the American Cancer Society. Dozens of teams gathered on the track to sell food and other items to raise funds as well. Organizers say just about everyone will either know someone who fights cancer or be diagnosed themselves at one point in their lives and that makes the relay a great event to support.
"Part of the motto is, cancer doesn't ever rest. Cancer is once people have cancer it's with them. And I feel once you have it, it's part of who you become. Same thing with this event. We can all stop for 12 hours and think about that," says Maggie Acree who is the chair of the event his year.
Relay for Life at Revolution Park continues until six o'clock Saturday morning with a special illumination ceremony at 10pm Friday.
