Highway Dedicated to Fallen Police Officer in Rayville

The town of Rayville dedicated a highway in honor of a fallen police officer.
RAYVILLE -- Highway 80 in Rayville will officially be called the Thomas Alexander Memorial Highway.

Alexander, a 20-year veteran with the Rayville Police Department, was shot and killed in the line of duty on September 11th of 2010.

Sergeant Alexander responded to a home invasion and was shot several times by one of the suspects. Rayville Police Chief, Willie Robinson says that he will be remembered for a long time.

"A remembrance of him that way after I am gone; it will be a thing that everybody will know that he paid a sacrificial sacrifice for this town," said Robinson.

The town is also holding an event on Wednesday night at 7:00pm at the Rayville Center to honor Sergeant Alexander.
