Harley Riders Host 2nd Blood Drive in Monroe

Bleu Bayou Harley Owners Group beat last year's turnout for blood donations.
MONROE -- The Bleu Bayou Harley Owners Group hosted their second blood drive in Monroe.

On Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, two LifeShare Blood trucks parked at the Harley Davidson Dealership, and dozens rode in every hour to donate.

Within the first hour, LifeShare Blood Group employees had to run for more supplies. A total of 51 people donated blood, exceeding last year's turnout.

Ashley White, Donation Recruiter from LifeShare Blood Group, says that all the blood will go directly to local hospitals and medical centers.

Chuck Adams, Director of Bleu Bayou Harley Owners Group, says it hits close to home. "This is helping people. This is saving lives- maybe even one of our own. Somebody can have a motorcycle accident and the first thing you need... blood."
