Governor Jindal Makes a Stop in Bastrop

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal made a stop in Morehouse Parish Friday as part of his 64 parish tour.
Bastrop -- Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal made a stop in Morehouse Parish Friday as part of his 64 parish tour.

He was in bastrop to announce almost a million dollars in capital outlay funding to be used for improvements in Morehouse Parish.

$375,000 will go towards renovating an old building in downtown Bastrop for a new operations center for law enforcement and first responders.

The facility will centralize homeland security operations and store and dispatch first responders.

A landing zone for helicopters will also be constructed at the center.

$500,000 will go towards improvements to Carl Road in Bastrop.

The project will widen and improve approximately 2,000 feet of roadway to support traffic and create an entry road for Morehouse BioEnergy, LLC.

The company is set to create 47 direct jobs for the area and will support the retention of an estimated 150 forestry jobs in the region.

Jindal says the funding will continue to help make improvements that will benefit families.
