WEST MONROE -- Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, a West Monroe man was placed behind bars after a theft complaint from two days ago led to an arrest.
On September 27th, a theft complaint was made at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Annex. Deputies made contact with the victim, who stated he was living with 19-year-old Stephen Tero of West Monroe. During which time, the victim said he was allowed to store his vehicle at a lot at 781 Avant Rd.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim claimed Tero forced him to move but allowed him to leave his vehicle in the Avant Rd. lot until arragements for it could be made.
The victim said he went to the lot this past week to find his car missing along with Tero.
When the victim said he contacted Tero, they claimed Tero wasn't direct about the whereabouts of the vehicle but did say the vehicle would be returned.
The affidavit stated the victim received word his vehicle had been sold to the U-Auto-Pull-It scrap yard in Monroe. The victim said he went there and was informed he had to pay a fee to get his vehicle back.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim showed deputies the title of the car, confirming his ownership.
Deputies arrived at the U-Auto-Pull-It and received a copy of sale information confirming Tero sold the vehicle for $100, according to the affidavit.
An arrangement was made for the victim to collect his vehicle at a later date.
According to the arrest affidavit, on Saturday, deputies made contact with Tero, who claimed he bought the vehicle from the victim for $200.
Tero was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center, charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle.
