David Cawton II is a native of Jacksonville Beach, FL. Joining KTVE as the general assignment reporter for El Dorado and Southern Arkansas, he is new to the Ark-la-miss!
Graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in sociology from Jacksonville University in May 2013. His broadcast career started in student media as a producer, reporter and anchor for The Dolphin Channel at Jacksonville University.
For two years he covered campus news, sports and worked with local non-profits on short-format documentaries. He was also a member of the radio staff, hosting a daily sports-talk radio show focused on JU and North Florida sports. During his time at Jacksonville University, he worked for the athletic department producing live sporting events and directing live football games on our CW affiliate in Jacksonville.
In 2012 he interned at WAWS/WTEV Action News, splitting time between the news department and sports.
During the 2011 and 2012 NFL football seasons, he worked for the Jacksonville Jaguars on their Game-day production staff, filling in roles in event production. This relationship gave him access to cover the Jaguars as a member of the media during the 2012 season for the school news station.
During the summer of 2013, he went on a two month study abroad staying in Florence, Italy and Paris, France.
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with Golden Retriever Soleil, running, reading, watching movies and of course watching the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sundays.
