Workshop Highlights Pollinator Habitat on Working Farms

Local organizations are co-sponsoring a Planning Pollinator Habitat on Working Farms Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 9, 2014.

Little Rock - Press Release — The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Booneville Plant Materials Center,  Agricultural Research Service and The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation are co-sponsoring a Planning Pollinator Habitat on Working Farms Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 9, 2014.

The workshop, held at the Dale Bumpers Small Farms Research Center, 6883 S. State Highway 23 south of Booneville, will include presentations and field tours to teach the basics of:

Choosing a site on your farm to establish pollinator habitat,

Using specific pollinator species to improve vegetable and fruit production,

The importance of establishing pollinator habitat for honey production,

Integrating pollinator habitat areas into livestock grazing programs for cattle, sheep and goats; and

Opportunities for financial assistance to establish pollinator habitat from NRCS.
