Winners of Duck Commander's Duck Derby Get Big Surprise in Monroe

12-year-old Kathleen had no idea when she woke up that she'd be on her way to meet Luke Bryan.

MONROE, LA. - The winners of Duck Commander's Duck Derby came to Monroe for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

12-year-old Kathleen thought she was going to Monroe this weekend just to get away from her home in Alabama

She had no idea what was in store for her and her family when she woke up this morning.

It was quite a surprise for the 2nd place winner of December’s race.

She lives with Mike and Shelley Tufts at the Exodus Ranch, a foster home in Opelika, Alabama

Shelley's cousin, who lives in the area, knew all nine kids at the ranch were fans of Duck Dynasty.

"She called and asked us if she could enter their names in a duck race and we were like sure yah that would be great,” said Shelley.  “We told the kids but then they never heard anything about it before today."

For winning, Kathleen and her entire family will meet Luke Bryan at his concert in Bossier City this weekend.

"I mean, I like him, but he's not one of my favorites,” said Kathleen, jokingly.  “I know Victoria was really, really excited because of her big reaction." Victoria is Kathleen’s roommate and best friend at Exodus Ranch.

As Kathleen found out, they get a little more than just a concert.

After leaving the hotel in a stretch limo, everyone piled into Willie’s Duck Diner for lunch with special guests, Ms. Kay Robertson.

The first place winner, Gordon Crozier of Monroe was also there.

He'll be touring the Duck Commander Warehouse for winning 1st place.

"They called me, and said, ‘you won first place in the duck race.’  I said, ‘yah, yah, who put you up to this,’” explains Crozier. “I said, ‘let me get my wife on the phone.’"

Gordan and his wife, Jan won't be alone on their tour.

"We found out it was nine kids, and that they’re foster kids, and so we thought it would be great for them to come over and go through the warehouse."

"The fact that they included us as a family is just overwhelming and we're just excited," adds Shelley Tufts.

It was another surprise and a pretty big weekend, for a pretty big family.
