Walmart Neighborhood Market Stores Coming to Twin Cities

Walmart has announced four new Neighborhood Markets for Monroe and West Monroe.
Monroe/West Monroe (Press Release) -- Walmart has announced four new Neighborhood Markets for Monroe and West Monroe that will provide convenient access to affordable and healthier food options and new job opportunities.

The new Neighborhood Markets are located at:

· 4430 Desiard St., Monroe LA 71202
· 1840 McKeen Place, Monroe LA 71201
· 5629 Cypress St., West Monroe 71291
· 2400 Cypress St., West Monroe 71291

The Walmart Neighborhood Market is all about customer convenience. The smaller size, easy parking access, drive-thru pharmacy and fuel station make this a perfect footprint for quick trips, while still offering customers the same low prices as at our larger format stores. Neighborhood Markets are approximately 38,000 square feet, similar to traditional grocery stores.

"This investment by Walmart in West Monroe is another indication of the confidence the business community has in our local economy,” said West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris. “We welcome the new jobs and the expansion of shopping options in our city."

The typical Neighborhood Market employs up to 95 associates and these four locations will provide close to 400 jobs. The average wage for regular, full-time hourly associates in Louisiana is $12.79 per hour. Our pay and benefits typically meet or exceed what’s offered by our local competitors. Walmart employs more than 33,000 people at its 106 Louisiana locations.

"We are Monroe Proud about the investment Walmart is making in our community. This economic development project will bring new jobs, more convenience and continued growth for our city, “Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo said. “These new developments will continue to improve the quality of life for our residents and broaden our tax base."

“Walmart is excited to expand our service to our customers and to create career opportunities to the people of Monroe and West Monroe,” Walmart Monroe-Area Market Manager Justin Larsen said. “We appreciate the support of Mayor Mayo and Mayor Norris in bringing the people of North Louisiana additional opportunities to save money so they can live better.”
