UPDATED: Kidnapping Suspect Recaptured After Escaping

The kidnapping suspect who escaped from police custody in Richland Parish has been recaptured.

Monroe Police confirm that the Richland Parish Sheriff's Office has recaptured Derrick Rose in the Rayville area.


Richland Parish authorities say the kidnapping suspect, Derrick Rose has escaped.

The Richland Parish Sheriff's Office says Rose escaped around 4 p.m.

Louisiana State Police is offering air support in the search for Rose.

Monroe Police say they are taking active security measures to protect the victims.

It is unknown at this time how Rose escaped from police custody.

UPDATE 5:00 p.m. : 
Monroe Police have received the following update concerning the abduction investigation involving Derrick Rose.  Rose was located in an isolated field in Richland Parish by law enforcement officials in that parish based upon information provided by Monroe Police at approximately 10:30 AM. 

Upon locating the suspect vehicle, Rose fired at least two shots in an attempt to shoot the victim while they were both seated in the vehicle.  The victim defended herself by trying to grab the firearm and was struck in one hand.  The victim did succeed in gaining control of the firearm and was able to throw it from the vehicle.

 Rose then placed the victim in a “choke” type hold and further attempted to injure the victim before being separated from the victim and taken into custody by law enforcement officers.  The victim received treatment for her hand injury and is undergoing follow-up treatment at a hospital in Shreveport

The 4 year old child was present at the scene and was not injured.  Rose has been arrested and booked into the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office for one count of Attempted First Degree Murder. 

Rose also faces Kidnapping and other related charges in Ouachita Parish that are related to this incident.  Monroe Police have also discovered that Rose was involved in a separate Domestic Violence related incident with a separate female on 04-03-14 that occurred in West Monroe La. 


Details of that investigation will have to be obtained from West Monroe Police.  Monroe Police continue the investigation into this matter.


UPDATE 11:15 a.m. : Monroe Police say a kidnapping suspect is now in custody.

Police say the suspect was caught in Richland Parish. Police say Becky Zeno was shot in the hand after after a struggling over the weapon.

The child was uninjured.

Police say they were in a parking lot when the fight over the gun happened. Zeno tried to get way, Rose chased her and that's when witnesses called 911. 


Monroe -- Monroe Police are looking a suspect they say kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and their child.

It happened this morning at 7:45 AM.

Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 5400 block of Blanks St.

Police say Derrick L. Rose of Winnsboro, kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, Becky Zeno, from her home and also their 4-year-old daughter.

Rose is believed to have fled the scene with Zeno and the child driving a white 2013 Ford Edge vehicle with La License XCE 023.

There have been past reports of domestic violence filed against Rose by Zeno.
Rose is considered dangerous due to the past incidents and the alleged incident that occurred this morning.

Anyone with information about the above incident or the whereabouts of Zeno, Rose, or the child is urged to contact the Monroe Police Department immediately at 318.329.2600 or Crimestoppers at 318.388. 2274 (CASH).

If Rose or the above vehicle is located by the public, do not approach the subject and notify law enforcement immediately.
