UPDATE: Wake Tonight for Fallen Tallulah Leader

Local Tallulah businessman and hospital board president Thomas Williams passed away last week.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY: The wake has been set for 6 p.m. tonight for Tallulah businessman and president of the Madison Parish Hospital Service District Board, Thomas Williams.

According to Williams' family, he died last Friday after battling cancer for four-and-a-half years.

"He was always service before self and we would just like to say thank you to everyone for their kindness during this time of bereavement. He loved what he did and he did it to the very end. He did whatever he could to serve his community. We were with him during his last hours. He was very content," said Williams' daughter, Jann Williams-Buchanan.

"Mr. Williams will be well-missed. He really saw the hospital through its darkest hours with all the problems we've had over the last two years with previous administrations, theft and fraud and everything. He will be an inspiration to remaining board members to go forward into the future," Madison Parish Hospital CEO Dr. Ted Topolewski said.

A wake for Williams will be at 6 p.m. tonight at the Madison/Tallulah Community Center.

Funeral services are set for Thursday starting with a viewing from 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Tallulah with final burial services beginning at 11 a.m at Mount Zion Cemetery in Delhi.
