UPDATE: Suspect Identified in Sunday Night Bastrop Homicide

Bastrop Police report they have issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect who allegedly shot and killed 49-year-old Jimmy Lee Davis of Bastrop last Sunday night.
BATROP -- Bastrop Police report they have issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect who allegedly shot and killed 49-year-old Jimmy Lee Davis of Bastrop last Sunday night.

Bastrop Police identified 19-year-old Terry Lee Brandley of Bastrop as that suspect. A warrant charges him with Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Bastrop officers said they still don't know Brandley's relationship to Davis nor any motive in the shooting. Police said they are speaking with Brandley's family members at this time as they continue their investigation.

Police said Davis was pronounced dead at the scene near his house on East Jefferson Avenue Sunday night. Officers received the call from the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office about a shooting at 10:27 p.m.

Neighbors told KTVE/KARD Davis lived at 529 East Jefferson Avenue. They said he was a kind man who kept to himself and watched out for his neighbors.
