ROCKY BRANCH -- Union Parish Sheriff's investigators made two arrests in a January 12 armed robbery and home invasion of an elderly man in the Rocky Branch community.

Deputies are holding 21-year-old Kurt Christopher Wiley of 772 DeLoutre Switch Rd. in Farmerville and 21-year-old Boone Richardson Brantley, Jr. of 1418 Highway 143 in Farmerville at the Union Parish Detention Center on bonds of $336,000 for Wiley and $320,000 for Brantley, Jr.

Authorities report both were booked for armed robbery with a gun, home invasion with a weapon, false imprisonment and unauthorized use of a movable and criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said Brantley, Jr. was arrested Monday without incident and Wiley was arrested Tuesday morning at the detention center where he was being held on previous charges including probation violation.

Gates said the work of the detectives revealed the two suspects had planned the robbery the night of January 11 and that Brantley, Jr. had dropped Wiley off at the victim's residence in Rocky Branch the next morning.

Gates said Wiley, who was masked, approached the victim outside his house and robbed him of the cash in his pocket and then forced the 75-year-old man inside his house where more money was taken along with a small safe.

The suspect tied and gagged the man before leaving in the victim's car.

The victim was able to untie himself and call UPSO. Deputies located the stolen car at the Point Bridge near Rocky Branch. Evidence at the scene showed that the suspect had gotten into another vehicle.

After the robbery the next day, Wiley surrendered himself on the previous charges at the detention center, according to authorities.

Investigators said some of the money taken during the robbery was to be used by Wiley during his incarceration on the other charges pending against him.

The other charges included no driver's license, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and disturbing the peace.

Gates said the .32-caliber pistol used in the robbery was found off Turkey Creek Road near Marion.
